Operation Starburst

Operation Starburst is a sci-fi MMORPG that's fairly obscure, and known to its players as much for its fairly detailed world (but not Puppets or plot) as it is for glitching badly every once in a while.

Its most notable trait is probably that both Starburst and Planetshine have apparently borrowed some of their technological details from a third source (or each other) - meaning that someone who's learnt to fly ships in Starburst would know how to fly them in Planetshine.
