For those of your seeking an overview of key events since the RP started, the following should be a reasonably complete list of events that have shaped character opinions of each other, impacted greatly on their personalities, and of course note since roughly when they've been around. Might read quite disconnectedly. Don't expect the flow from paragraph to paragraph to be gentle! Darkscape Elizabeth, Rasim and MekkaByte link in. Frederick, believing himself to be genuinely raptorian and having lived on the server all his life, initially mistakes Elizabeth for food, but then forms a tight friendship with her after realising she's a sentient being, inwardly vowing to protect her - initially just from similar misunderstandings, later of anything. Joshua Bergström, Byelobog, creator/godfather of genAesis, connects later, after finding curious traces of rogue genAesis seeds, being hunted by a to the Citizens unknown (to this day) avatar. Byelobog is whisked off to a conference between the server AIs. Unfortunately he doesn't deem it necessary to divulge any of those details to anyone, so to this day, none of the other Citizens know that Wildcard is (1) a network, (2) a network of servers from genAesis seeds. Necropolis Frederick's confronted with that his human form is not just one he sees in dreams. The identity crisis, though arguably severe, does not make him believe the story that 'offline' is somehow a more important place (to him, sim) than all the others they've seen and will see. Joshua, now in his human form, is properly identified as who he is. Dread, through Frederick, pesters Joshua for his physical whereabouts, but does not find him. The 'punishment for the lie' that follows establishes a hateful distance between Joshua and Frederick that lasts until Elizabeth first mentions her theory that Dread may be an administrator of the server, though the remaining wariness and mistrust last until Joshua's death. A new batch of people link in: Willoughby, Sable, Sirena, Adrian and Patches. By stroke of luck, Adrian (who was avoiding the others he'd linked in with because the only reason he did was that he was stalking Sirena), ends up found by Byelobog (on his own due to Dread-Frederick's antics), and befriends him. Frederick and Patches befriend after Frederick leaves the growing group (after they all found each other a while later), considering himself a liability, and Patches tags along, finding out much about him. While helping Elizabeth find the two by giving her directions, Dread points out that Byelobog and Patches both are Puppets as far as he knows, neither of them existing as souls in the real world. Eclipsed The Citizens are first confronted with death as their guide, Avik, is slain by the demon god of the simulation. Sirena doesn't deal with it very well. Due to an interesting turn of events, Adrethyrian chooses to speak to Frederick, where a language barrier proves problematic. Frederick secedes from the group after Byelobog and their new guide (Tathun) especially doubt the veracity of his peaceful encounter with Adrethyrian, but his attempts to help the demon god are futile, though he learns some of his language. During the trek, Willoughby and Sable form a tight bond. Near the end of the simulation, the Citizens first lose Tathun in another battle with Adrethyrian, then later lose Byelobog as he distracts Adrethyrian for them at a different point in time, letting them flee. Adrian falls out with Frederick over it, blaming him twofold (one - teaming up with Adrethyrian, two - knowing that he's attacked (as Dread) Byelobog in the past), but mostly without bringing it up. Frederick helps the Citizens translate inscriptions in Eclipsed's pyramid and they end the sim, indirectly dooming the Puppets in it to a painful, horrible death. Taranis Frederick is the first and for a long time, only person, to find out that Adrethyrian linked into the sim with them. It throws him into existential guilt, having been previously convinced by the others that 'they are just Puppets, the sim will reset when we've left'. Not only does he doubt that, but he figures then that even if it were true, that gave them no right to decide over their lives. Adrethyrian, who is bound to the last sunstone salvaged from Eclipsed (if it breaks, he dies, but he is probably immortal beyond that), has given Frederick it for safe-keeping, but the happenstance of the change has still made him fairly docile, though he mourns the death of his culture whenever even slightly reminded of it. Frederick drugs himself up, and ends up getting imprisoned as his habits are no longer compatible with the desires of their fae hosts. Adrethyrian is imprisoned later for trying to come into the paradise 'through the back door'. Willoughby, having formed a loose friendship with Frederick, is probably the one most actively interested in his well-being. Patches, though, having had a row with Frederick shortly before he got locked up, feels somewhat responsible. Willoughby plays a leadership role in getting the Citizens motivated against the fae, both before Frederick's incarceration and moreso after. Sirena is picked as 'impartial moral leader' and puzzle pieces of the sim are safekept by her. Adrian desperately tries to be useful both for the sake of the memory of Byelobog and to impress Sirena (as always), thus often 'competing' with Willoughby to do the dirty work. Fairly late in the simulation, two more people link in: Erika and Jochen. They don't have any real notable ties to anyone yet. Offline Aeonis gets reports of some of their clients ending up trapped online and start up a team to investigate - though the team receives no additionally funding and as such things are limited to the members' past times. Dread's past time hobby - at least the part of it that involves killing people - is found out by the military operation he's held quasi-prisoner by. He's imprisoned a bit harder, isolating him from it, if only until they realise it's not going to change him. A psychologist is recruited, instead. Aeonis (after the team expands to Aeonis Global from Aeonis Europe following the second batch of trapped people) gets a permit from the Blades' ISP to look at their files in light of the internet phenomenon trapping Sirena Blades. After Byelobog's final death at the hands of Adrethyrian, a woman called Lysette Skeates apologises to Aeonis for it and assures that it was not an act of aggression, confused when she is told the company knows neither of his death (though she reveals zero details about it), nor even his whereabouts. A company-internal minute of silence is had on the 8th of May. Following it, Teo begins to receive (company-internal, but anonymous) hatemail and acts of sabotage that make him responsible for the death of Joshua Bergström. Byelobog is considered the second death associated with the entrapment phenomenon. The first was Michael Andreas, whom Aeonis were too late to contact - the body died of dehydration. Aeonis is otherwise aware of all currently trapped people. |
