Europe in the year of Wildcard can pertain to two things: the continent (which persists with definition unchanged) or the nation.

Latter grew out of the European Union, containing most of the continent itself by now, though Switzerland remains notably exempt.

The names of the nations that formed it are still prominent in the minds of those who live there, but formally, no such designations exist anymore. Instead, counties loosely based on the erased borders were created, often lumping several ex-nations together.

Capital

The capital of Europe is Berlin, not, as one might expect, Brussels - Berlin was ultimately chosen due to its symbolic value in the political history of the continent. Brussels continues to be important, though, marking at the very least the capital of the county Waterkant.

• Mediterraneus, containing what used to be Italy, Greece, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro.
• Waterkant, containing what used to be France, Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg.
• Britannia, containing what used to be the United Kingdom, Ireland and Iceland.
